This semi-public garden on the most prominent corner in downtown New Bern is designed to accommodate church and worship events for First Baptist Church as well as provide an urban green space open to the public.  The public is welcomed into the garden by a formal entry at the corner featuring columns and walls that reflect historic brick masonry work found throughout downtown.  The elliptical lawn area provides flexible space for a variety of functions, while the surrounding garden areas provide color and texture enclosing the central space and creating a garden setting.  The garden space is delineated and the visual connection between the space and the street is maintained through the use of wrought iron fencing and the strategic selection and placement of plantings.
