obs is collaborating with HH Architecture on a master plan for 10,000 acres of forest along the Little River in Transylvania and Henderson Counties. The master plan for Dupont State Recreational Forest will provide the North Carolina Department of Agriculture a guide for land use, resource conservation and recreational decisions in the future. This unique land is the site of some of western North Carolina’s most picturesque waterfalls as well as the site of a former Dupont Inc. manufacturing facility.

As the location for the filming of the Hunger Games and the Last of the Mohicans, Dupont Forest has experienced a recent surge in visitation. This increase in visitors coupled with the popularity of it’s extensive multi-use trail system has led to the need for a master plan that will guide future development and management policy.

The master plan will address and balance recreational uses, the protection of scenic and significant natural resources and the continuation of forest management practices.
